It’s Meal Prep Monday! And just because you’re home all day every day for the unforeseen future, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t prepare anything for the week. I’m kidding. Do what you want. But, in case you’re interested in meal prepping, I’m sharing a few tips on how to make it easier on yourself and your family below.
Meal Prep Monday Tips:
- PREP SINGLE INGREDIENTS
- Rather than making several dishes to last you throughout the week, prep individual ingredients that you can use in different dishes. I’ll be sharing more ideas about this throughout the week.
- MULTI-TASK WITH KITCHEN APPLIANCES
- Utilize your kitchen appliances and gadgets to multi-task with food prep:
- Start by preparing the dishes that take the longest to cook or bake. I bake my quick bread or dessert first, then roast my veggies and protein after.
- While the first few dishes are baking or roasting, use your stovetop to cook the other dishes. I usually make a pot of rice, boil my eggs, and stir fry any vegetable dishes.
- If you have an electric pressure cooker (InstantPot) and/or slow cooker, utilize that to make your soups, stews, or protein.
- Toaster ovens are life! Think of this as your mini oven and utilize this as another place to bake or roast your dishes.
- Utilize your kitchen appliances and gadgets to multi-task with food prep:
- FOOD STORAGE
- Be sure to properly store your food using the appropriate containers. I prefer using glass containers like Pyrex, Wecks Jars, mason jars, and Snapware glass tupperware and Stasher reusable ziplock bags.
- MIX N’ MATCH
- Variety is the spice of life! Making a variety of different dishes as pictured above allows for more flexibility when creating your weekday meals.
